The Met Office has issued a series of weather warnings for the days ahead - with the UK braced to be battered by heavy rain and winds up to 80mph.
A yellow wind warning is in place for north-west Scotland from 4pm on Wednesday to 9am on Thursday - with some travel disruption anticipated.
This warning then spreads into Northern Ireland and across northern England from Thursday afternoon into Friday morning - with Greater Manchester among the areas affected.
The Met Office has then put in place a warning for all of England, Wales, Northern Ireland for heavy rain and wind from 3pm on Friday until 6am on Sunday.
