The documentary is part of a joint investigation with The Times and The Sunday Times which was published yesterday (September 16).

The New York Times this week, Wenner said female and black artists aren’t “intellectual enough” to be interviewed for his new book, The Masters.In response, the Hall Of Fame decided to remove Wenner from the board, and the Rolling Stone founder shared a statement of apology.Shared via the publisher of his book, Wenner said: “In my interview with The New York Times I made comments that diminished the contributions, genius and impact of Black and women artists and I apologise wholeheartedly for those remarks.“The Masters is a collection of interviews I’ve done over the years that seemed to me to best represent an idea of rock ’n’ roll’s impact on my world; they were not meant to represent the whole of music and its diverse and important originators but to reflect the high points of my career and interviews I felt illustrated the breadth and experience in that career.”He added: “They don’t reflect my appreciation and admiration for myriad totemic, world-changing artists whose music and ideas I revere and will celebrate and promote as long as I live. I totally understand the inflammatory nature of badly chosen words and deeply apologise and accept the consequences.”Within his new book, Wenner asks questions of seven “philosophers of rock”, notably all white men – Bono, Bob Dylan, the late Jerry Garcia, Mick Jagger, the late John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, and Pete Townshend.In the introduction of the book, Wenner writes that women and artists of colour were not in his zeitgeist.

Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has been discharged from hospital following his admittance with a pneumonia infection this week (September 14).Whibley’s admission to hospital was first confirmed by his wife Ari, who said that Whibley was hospitalised on the day they were supposed to be in Chicago celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary. She added that he will be kept in hospital for several days over the risk of heart failure.“We spent the entire night in the ER and will now be spending the next few days here in the hospital as he fights through pneumonia.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie film continues to smash box office records around the globe and has now taken another that was previously held by Marvel’s The Avengers.As per Variety, by the end of this weekend, the film will have grossed over $623million (£502million) at the domestic box office in the US, meaning it will have surpassed Marvel’s The Avengers. As noted on Screen Rant, this then makes Barbie the 11th highest grossing movie of all time in North America.Other achievements of the film include a global box office earning of more than $1billion (£807million).Mattel meanwhile expects Barbie to contribute over $125million (£100million) in gross billings to the company this year.Anthony DiSilvestro, chief financial officer at Mattel, shared the number during the Goldman Sachs media conference earlier this month (September 7).
