Fourth man charged in connection with death of Greenock man 'gunned down' on doorstep
dailyrecord.co.ukA fourth man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a man allegedly gunned down on his doorstep.Neil Canney was found seriously injured in Nairn Road at around 1.15am on Tuesday, February 28.
The 37-year-old was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died a short time later.Three men appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court earlier this week charged with Mr Canney's murder.
Today, police confirmed a fourth man, aged 27, had been charged. He was due to appear in court today.At a petition hearing on Monday, Jack Benson, 22, from Port Glasgow in Inverclyde, and Dale Russell, 28, from Wishaw, Lanarkshire, appeared at court charged with Mr Canney's murder.
They entered no plea and were remanded in custody.Yesterday, Martin McCusker, 38, made no plea at Greenock Sheriff Court to the single charge of murdering Neil Canney.A police spokesperson said: "A 27-year-old man has now been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Neil Canney in Greenock.
