A man from Wigan has been charged with two counts of rape and multiple assaults. Gareth Hock, 39, of no fixed abode, has been remanded into custody.

He has been charged with two counts of rape, five counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of controlling or coercive behaviour.

He has also been charged with an assault by beating, doing an act tending and intended to pervert the course of justice, failing to stop and failing to report an accident. A post on the GMP Wigan West Facebook page yesterday (March 18) said: "#CHARGED | A Wigan man has been charged with multiple offences and remanded in custody. "Gareth Hock (05/09/1983) of NFA, has been charged with the following offences: Rape x 2, Assault occasioning actual bodily harm x 5, Controlling or coercive behaviour, Assault by beating, Doing an act tending and intended to pervert the course of justice, Fail to stop, Fail to report an accident.
