Last summer, Manchester City rewarded two fringe players with significant squad numbers to recognise their hard work during the previous two campaigns.
Gabriel Jesus earned the prestigious no.9 jersey, while Aleks Zinchenko was promoted to no.11. For both players, who would spend the 2019/20 campaign as second-choice in their positions, it was a vote of confidence from City that they were still part of Pep Guardiola's plans.
Perhaps unusually, City still have three numbers from 1-11 unused in their first team squad - and with Claudio Bravo's expected exit at the end of the season the no.1 shirt will become available too.
