Helicopters are continuing to dump water on a huge moor fire in Derbyshire which is still burning after four days. Crews have returned to Rakes Moss early this morning and resumed efforts to bring the fire under control.
The alarm was first raised to the blaze just off the stretch of the A628 Woodhead Pass between Glossop and Crowden at around 10am on Thursday.
It created large volumes of smoke, with residents many miles away in Manchester reporting they could smell burning on Thursday evening.
Crews from Derbyshire and Greater Manchester, supported by the landowners, water company United Utilities and the local Peak Park Rangers, today said they are still working to extinguish the fire using a combination of beaters, specialist off-road
