Fire crews tackle blaze in Manchester city centre building

Fire crews were called to tackle a blaze in the basement of a building in Manchester city centre. Five engines were dispatched to the scene in the Shudehill area just before 2pm on Saturday (November 23) following reports of a fire in a building.

The basement was unoccupied at the time. Crews extinguished the blaze and remained at the scene to make sure the building was safe.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), said: “Just before 2pm this afternoon (Saturday, 23 November), firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a building on Shudehill in Manchester city centre.
