Manchester United are set to welcome Jonny Evans back into their squad for the Manchester derby. Evans has not played for United since starting in Ruben Amorim's first game in charge against Ipswich Town last month but the defender returned to training earlier this week.
Although Evans trained with the main group ahead of facing Viktoria Plzen, he wasn't included in the squad and could finally be welcomed back against Manchester City on Sunday. "Yeah, he's training already," clarified Amorim when he was asked about Evans' participation.
Evans' first experience of the Manchester derby came in May 2009 and he has been a huge success in his second stint at the club, despite signing for United in the winter of his career. It was five minutes ago, so I have to see it. But no, just some players were tired in the end. "You could see it, also because of the transitions it was a crazy game in the end today, but I think everyone is going to be fit and ready to win the game [against City on Sunday]." United have close to a fully fit squad for the Manchester derby, with the exception of Luke Shaw, who remains sidelined with a hamstring injury that he picked up shortly after his return.
