Fire crews called onboard easyJet flight on Manchester Airport runway

Fire crews have been called onboard an easyJet plane at Manchester Airport. The easyJet flight to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt was due to take off at 11.30am this morning (Tuesday).

But fire crews were called to the runway after reports of 'possible smoke in the aircraft', according to eyewitnesses. Pictures showed firefighters onboard the plane.

A replacement aircraft was then arranged. A Manchester Airport spokesperson said fire crews were 'dispatched to investigate as a precaution, in line with standard procedure'.
