Manchester City starlet Foden and his Manchester United counterpart Greenwood were both pictured in the Icelandic press breaking England’s quarantine measures at their hotel.
England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed the duo will leave the England camp ahead of the Nations League game against Denmark on Tuesday, and the FA have now condemned their actions.
Confirming the duo had apologised, the FA echoed statements made by City and United expressing disappointment at their actions.
A spokesperson said: "Whilst in Iceland, both Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood spent time outside of our private team area, which was a breach of our COVID-19 rules."While they did not leave the team hotel, it was an unacceptable breach of our protocol.
