Donald Trump will soon take office after declaring a 'magnificent victory for the American people' in the November presidential election.

The former Republican President, who served his first term between 2016 and 2020, defeated Democrat Kamala Harris and will return to the White House for his second term in a matter of days.

Mr Trump, 78, is the oldest president ever elected and the first defeated president in 132 years to win another term. While the 2024 US presidential election took place more than two months ago, on November 5, the winner does not officially become the President until the inauguration ceremony, when they are sworn in.

Mr Trump's inauguration ceremony will be on Monday, January 20. He and his vice president JD Vance will be asked to take the oath of office at the inauguration ceremony at around midday.
