The 28-year-old, who is from Belfast but was visiting the region for an ice hockey tournament, throttled the young teacher as she tried to scream out for help.
She was left drifting in and out of consciousness after banging her head when he pushed her into a wall.Grimason fled the scene after hearing voices nearby and left the young woman, who feared she was going to die during the attack, bleeding on the ground.
