Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral takes place on Monday, concluding a 10-day mourning period in the UK. Her Majesty, 96, died at Balmoral castle on Thursday (September 8).

King Charles III and William, the Prince of Wales have surprised mourners queuing to see the Queen Lying-in-State in Westminster Hall as they greeted them. Members of the public have been queuing for up to 24 hours to pay their respects to the late Monarch who passed away aged 96 on Thursday, 8 September. King Charles, 73, and Prince William, 40, shook hands with well-wishers queuing at Albert Embankment near Lambeth Palace and spent time chatting to them.

Jeremy Clarkson opened up about his mother, Shirley Clarkson's, connection to Queen Elizabeth II and Paddington Bear following the monarch's death.The former Top Gear presenter admitted he "wished his mother lived to see" a poignant moment taking place since Her Majesty's death on September 8.The 62-year-old revealed his late mum created the first Paddington Bear toy and the broadcaster was the first person in the country to receive the stuffed bear as a Christmas present.Following the Queen's death, mourners flocked to Buckingham Palace to lay flowers, marmalade sandwiches and Paddington Bears in a heartfelt tribute.Writing in his latest column for The Sun, Jeremy shared some heartfelt words as he honoured his mother's creation.He wrote: "In the late Sixties, my mother made soft toys in the spare bedroom and decided one year she’d make a couple of bears which were dressed in hats, duffle coats and wellies."She then gave them to my sister and I as Christmas presents. We got the first-ever Paddingtons."The Grand Tour host explained his mother soon had to move out of the spare bedroom and into a factory before the treasured toy was mass produced.Jeremy went on: "And now everyone is leaving them outside the gates of Buckingham Palace as a mark of respect for the Queen."I just wish my mum had lived to see it.

It has reportedly become the longest queue in history, as tens of thousands of people continue to line up to pay their respects to the late Queen Elizabeth II, lying in state in London’s Westminster Hall. 

The Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drama continued into the weekend as it wasn’t clear if the Sussexes would be attending a pre-funeral reception at Buckingham Palace on the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who settled in California after stepping down as senior royals in 2020 – reportedly initially received an invitation to the Sunday evening reception, but conflicting reports said they were and weren’t expected to attend.  According to the Telegraph, they have now been uninvited because palace officials insisted that the reception hosted by King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, is only for working royals, which Harry and Meghan are not. Metropolitan Police in London have reportedly arrested a man for attempting to rush at Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin as she lies in state at Westminster Hall.

Queen Elizabeth's children have led her vigil at Westminster Hall. The late monarch - who passed away on September 8 at the age of 96 following a 70-year reign - is currently lying in state in London and her children King Charles, Anne, Princess Royal, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward headed up a 15-minute vigil to their mother while wearing military dress as they stood by her coffin. King Charles - who asceded to the throne the moment his mother passed - at the head of the edge of the stage, near the head of the coffin while his siblings were arranged on the other sides.

DAVID Beckham turned down the chance to jump the huge queues in London today to file past the coffin of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The former footballer, 47,  instead opted to wait patiently with the tens of thousands of people snaking towards Westminster Hall – for 13 hours. A source said:  “David was offered a queue jump hall pass - and the opportunity to go in with an MP - but turned it down to queue.
