‘English Teacher’ Renewed for Season 2 at FX Despite Sexual Assault Allegation Against Brian Jordan Alvarez

FX comedy series “English Teacher” has been renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned. The series originally debuted on FX and Hulu back in September 2024 to positive reviews.

Brian Jordan Alvarez created the series and also stars. Along with Alvarez, the cast includes Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, Sean Patton and Carmen Christopher. “’English Teacher’ was one of the most critically acclaimed new shows of 2024 and we are grateful to the producers, writers, cast, directors and crew for the show’s creative excellence,” said Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment. “We look forward to the new season.” The news comes following sexual assault allegations against Alvarez made by Jon Ebeling, his former friend and co-star from “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo,” a 2016 webseries Alvarez produced and starred in.

Ebeling first made his allegations public with an Instagram story post in August before expanding on the issue in an article published by New York Magazine in December.

In the report, Ebeling also alleges that “English Teacher” writer and star Koenig played a role in upholding his harmful dynamic with Alvarez.When the report was first published, a spokesperson for FX said, “We reviewed the allegations presented to us by another media outlet prior to the show’s launch.
