Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden was left trying to fight back his tears as he discussed his upcoming exit from the ITV soap for the first time.
The actor has played David Metcalfe in the ITV soap for 17 years but he'll soon be saying goodbye to the Dales in a storyline that is currently being kept under lock and key.
But during his appearance on This Morning on Wednesday (September 6), Matthew did confirm that he won't be killed off but did become emotional as he discussed why he had decided to leave.
Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Craig Doyle, the 43-year-old said: "I'm so nervous about leaving, two decades. It feels like the right time, the door is left open.
