Elon Musk issues 'important warning' about Starlink satellites being used in Ukraine

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has issued an important warning about his Starlink satellites being used in Ukraine with fears it will spark fury in Russia.

The tech billionaire offered aid to Ukraine with the satellite-internet system after he received a direct request for help from the country's deputy prime minister on Twitter.Starlink uses around 2,000 satellites to support undeserved areas across the world with internet access and has helped civilians in Ukraine stay connected during the crisis.On Thursday ( March 3), Musk explained the significance of Starlink in the invasion and urged people to "use with caution."He said: "Important warning: Starlink is the only non-Russian communications system still working in some parts of Ukraine, so probability of being targeted is high.

Please use with caution.""Turn on Starlink only when needed and place antenna away as far away from people as possible," he added in a later tweet."Place light camouflage over antenna to avoid visual detection," he urged in a third post.

The country's internet service has been disturbed during the war, with connectivity to Ukraine's main provider GigaTrans plunging to below 20 per cent of normal levels on February 25, according to UK-based NetBlocks.Musk helped bolster the country's resistance after Mykhailo Fedorov called on his services on social media.The Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine tweeted: "Elon Musk, while you try to colonise Mars - Russia tries to occupy Ukraine!"While your rockets successfully land from space - Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people!
