Get the stories that matter to you sent straight to your inbox with our daily newsletter.An East Kilbride councillor has slammed the delay in opening swimming pools in South Lanarkshire.The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that pools could open as of August 31 – earlier than first planned.But in a timetable released by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC), the Dollan Aqua Centre and the Hamilton Water Palace are not due to open until October 5 for club use, swimming lessons and limited public lane swimming.Meanwhile no date is given for other swimming pools in the area.This has led to Independent councillor Jim Wardhaugh branding SLC as “tail end charlie” and he has questioned why some private operators have already opened.
