Eddie Hearn has joked about staging a boxing super-fight between Wayne Rooney and Jake Paul. Last year, YouTube star KSI revealed Manchester United legend Rooney called him out for a fight on social media - the 37-year-old hails from a boxing family and infamously celebrated a goal in sweet-science fashion against Tottenham Hotspur in 2015.
Influencer boxing has gained traction in recent years, with last weekend’s fight between KSI and Tommy Fury reportedly selling 1.3million pay-per-views.
One of the biggest stars in the field is younger Paul brother Jake, who also fought Fury in February. Speaking on The Overlap, promoter Hearn revealed new Birmingham City boss Rooney often asks for a bout after a big event.
The Matchroom Sport CEO also suggested Rooney could sell out Old Trafford should he announce a switch to boxing.
