Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has reportedly urged fellow Premier League chiefs that relegation is inevitable as part of 'Project Restart'.
The Telegraph report the issue of relegation if the season can't be completed remains a sticking point ahead of this Thursday's Premier League shareholders meeting.
But the publication claim Woodward told fellow chief executives it had to be accepted that relegation was a given, if the season becomes curtailed after restarting.
The Old Trafford bigwig is said to have stated the fact other clubs would also be set to miss out if the season was to be scrapped before all remaining 92 matches had been played out.
