EastEnders was the latest soap to get into the spirit of Eurovision this week ahead of the show’s grand final on Saturday. With the show taking place in Liverpool this year on behalf of Ukraine, the residents of Walford were keen to embrace the lighthearted joy of the annual music competition as it became the theme for Kathy Beale’s birthday party. The cafe owner celebrated her birthday during Thursday’s episode of the BBC soap, with all of her closest friends and family from across Albert Square attending the bash to boogie the night away.
Instead of throwing a low-key party however, Kathy’s beau Rocky had pulled out all the stops to arrange a Eurovision theme, with many of the attendees coming dressed as their favourite Eurovision acts over the years.
Fans were left speechless as several of their favourite characters took to the stage to perform, with the standout moment undoubtedly being when Kathy Beale, Rocky, Harvey Monroe, and Jean Slater all took to the stage dressed as Bucks Fizz, complete with quick change skirt removal!
In another surprising twist, Rocky called in a favour from Eurovision legend Cheryl Baker, an original member of Bucks Fizz who famously took part in the contest back in 1981 - with the star making a cameo as herself in the heart of London’s East End!
