Peter Jones has become the latest multi-millionaire celebrity to furlough staff using taxpayers' money. More than 400 staff who work at Jones' high street camera store chain Jessops have been furloughed on the government's job retention scheme.

The scheme uses taxpayers' money to pay staff up to £2,500 of their salary while businesses struggle financially during the coronavirus crisis.

Jones, 53, will take advantage of the scheme, despite having an estimated personal wealth of around £490million, according to the Daily Mail.

He won't be paying his staffs' wages with his own fortune thanks to the scheme. The Dragons' Den star owns the company outright having bought it in 2013 after it went into administration.
