Costume designers for shows including Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones and Star Wars are putting their skills to use making scrubs for medics battling the coronavirus pandemic.
Dulcie Scott, the costume designer responsible for making couture dresses for Ruth Wilson in the BBC adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, is leading the charge alongside a material buyer.
In total, 150 costume makers have been enlisted to down tools on their usual shows and movies – which have included Batman, Outlander and Doctor Who – to help make the garments to protect those on the NHS frontline.
More scrubs are needed for those medical staff who have joined the frontline to help amid the pandemic, who would not normally have some of their own.
