A dog was shot dead after it broke off its lead at a farm and bit a sheep. The incident happened in Disley, in Cheshire, yesterday (Sunday).
The Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team said in a post on Facebook that the dog managed to break away from its lead and went on to worry some sheep. Police said the dog's owner - who witnessed the entire 'horrific incident - tried to shout for it to come back numerous times, but it wouldn't return.
The farmer then arrived and there was 'no other option' but to shoot the dog. A warning has now been issued to other dog owners when walking pets near livestock.
