Nicola Sturgeon has paid an emotional tribute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu following his death aged 90.Announcing the death, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said it was "another chapter of bereavement in our nation's farewell to a generation of outstanding South Africans who have bequeathed us a liberated South Africa".
He was among the best-known figures to oppose apartheid, along with Nelson Mandela.Throughout his life Tutu was a tireless campaigner for human rights, continuing his work long after South Africa's first democratic elections in 1994.
In the wake of his death, tributes from all over the world have flooded social media for the 'heroic' Nobel Peace Prize-winning activist.
