Labour are demanding a probe into Covid-19 deaths in care homes, saying staff and residents had been tragically let down. The party’s deputy leader Angela Rayner called for “some investigation”, citing figures showing there are “10,000 unaccounted for deaths” in the sector.
It came as the Government admitted there were “big lessons” to be learned from the care home crisis and acknowledged the situation remained a “challenge”.
