Testing for coronavirus has been significantly ramped up since the government aimed to reach a 100k a day testing target by the end of April.
A total of 2,772,552 test had been carried out in the UK as of 9am on Tuesday, the Department of Health said however, daily testing dropped below 90,000.
Up until now, only essential workers and those that live with an essential worker were eligible to be tested for coronavirus.
This was then upped to all those aged over 65, all care home residents and staff regardless of whether they have symptoms, and all people who have to go out to work at the end of April.
