charity has been spared jail. Linda McMahon, 63, was a trusted member of staff at Enable's branch in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.
But while working at the charity she helped herself to funds for almost 18 months. The fraud only came to light when discrepancies were noticed and an investigation was launched.
It revealed McMahon had been putting the cash into her own bank account rather than the one belonging to the organisation's Bellshill branch.
She insisted that pressure from an unnamed 'third party' led her to committing the crime and had not made any money out of her scheme as it had been passed on.Prosecutors said none of the cash had been recovered.
