Glasgow University researchers warned that there could be 'risks' involved with pets catching the bug by licking or sleeping near an infected person.
The scientists discovered two cases of the virus in cats, the first being a four-month-old cat female Ragdoll kitten who suffered from breathing problems before later being put down after its condition deteriorated.
Researchers said SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus, was found in her lungs and that it may have triggered the pneumonia that killed her.The Glasgow University team believe the cat was infected by its owner, who had Covid-19.
