Covid-19 cases in Trafford are now the highest in the North West. As the Omicron variant rages across the country and Boris Johnson considers further lockdown measures, the latest official figures reveal more than 2,400 people tested positive for coronavirus in Trafford in the week up to December 16.

This gives an infection rate of 1040.9 cases per 100,000 people - the first time any of the boroughs in Greater Manchester have surpassed 1,000.
