Manchester’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic will be the ‘greatest challenge we have faced in our lifetimes’, according to the city’s leader.
The town hall, which is facing a potential £152 million shortfall due to the outbreak, has set out how it will rebuild the local economy - something which could take up to five years.
With uncertainty still surrounding the government’s post-lockdown strategy, the councils’ COVID-19 recovery plan could change once the national position, and the impacts of the virus, become clearer.
Supporting businesses, deprived communities, and residents who may struggle to find work in the coming months will be the council’s immediate priority.
