After going to the pub for a hair of the dog drink following Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Sarah Platt's (Tina O'Brien) wedding, Daniel grabbed his dead wife Sinead's ring and headed to speak to Bethany.
Trying to be romantic, he asked her to marry him from the street, while she looked on from a window up above – though that's where things started to go wrong.
First, he called Bethany "Sinead", but then he accidentally dropped the ring, with a car driving over it and putting a nasty bend in it.
