The broadcaster decided not to air Coronation Street and Emmerdale, and instead aired special programming about the royal as a mark of respect.
ITV suspended all other viewing, apart from news programmes, to broadcast continuous coverage celebrating Prince Philip’s life.
Instead, each soap will get an extra hour long episode tonight. Emmerdale will start at 7pm and Corrie will follow at 8pm. Daytime television.
