Cordons are in place with forensics at two scenes in Worsley after a man was left fighting for his life in an altercation. Police were called to the incident on Leigh Road at around 8.15pm on Sunday (December 15).
Officers later discovered a man, aged 44, with 'significant injuries' at nearby Irvine Avenue. He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition, police said.
A 22-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody. Witnesses have told of how scenes remain in place two days later with forensic officers conducting investigations.
