After losing against Newcastle at Old Trafford, the worst was feared for United against Liverpool but Ruben Amorim's side opened the scoring in the second half of the game.
United defended brilliantly in the first half and Lisandro Martinez made it 1-0 just minutes after half-time, lashing the ball into the the net with a powerful shot from inside the box.
It didn't take Liverpool long to respond through Cody Gakpo, and Matthijs de Ligt conceded a penalty for a handball shortly after that, which Mohamed Salah converted.
Liverpool, who are top of the league, would have expected to claim the victory after taking the lead, but United refused to give up and made it 2-2 through Amad with 10 minutes to play.
