officers arrived at Charles Street in the Royston area of Glasgow at around 7pm tonight, June 10, to find a huge crowd outside a high rise building.

Rumours on social media speculated that an alleged sex offender was living in the building and a local group of vigilantes were said to have confronted him at his doorstep.

One man at the scene told the Record that an angry crowd of around 150 people gathered outside the block to await the man while they chanted 'beast'.

Officers from Police Scotland cordoned off the area with vans and police dogs spotted by eyewitnesses.One witness told the Daily Record: "There were about 150 people and maybe 100 police surrounding the building.
