Conor McGregor turned down the chance to fight Tony Ferguson last month, according to UFC president Dana White. The Irishman announced his third retirement in four years on Sunday morning citing a lack of available opponents.
But White has claimed McGregor was offered the chance to step in when Khabib Nurmagomedov was unable to face Ferguson. According to the promotion's chief, his former two-weight champion rejected the opportunity and it passed to Justin Gaethje.
