The Irishman announced on Sunday that he was hanging up his gloves for good - the third time he has done so in the last four years.
His previous spells on the sidelines proved to be short-lived and McGregor is priced at 1/100 to return to the octagon. And Ben Askren, who himself retired from mixed martial arts last year, is among those who expects to see the Dubliner back sooner rather than later.
He tweeted: "See, he is negotiating, I'm expecting Conor vs Justin in July on Fight Island." Askren was referring to McGregor taking on Justin Gaethje, a fight that had been pencilled in for this summer
