Captain Sir Tom Moore’s death on Tuesday evening, many people are calling for a nationwide round of applause in his honour. The World War Two hero united the nation in his efforts to raise money for the NHS as it tussled with the weight of the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
By completing 100 laps of his garden, Captain Tom raised over £32million for NHS Charities, in what was one of the most remarkable fundraising exercises this country has ever seen.
