The River Irwell has swelled again after snow and heavy rain battered Greater Manchester - just days after the severe New Year's floods.

Parts of Manchester city centre were under water on New Year's Day as downpours marked the beginning of 2025. Some bars and clubs, packed with New Year's partygoers, were forced to evacuate while rivers in the city burst their banks.

Images also showed the Castlefield area flooded on New Year's Day. Today (January 6), water levels are high again following severe weather over the weekend.

Snow on Sunday morning was followed by heavy rain overnight - leading to disruption across the region. The weather has left the River Irwell's water levels looking high this morning.
