Cineworld workers claim they were asked to help shift Pick n Mix stock shortly before losing their jobs on Monday. Employees at the Renfield Street cinema in Glasgow say they were encouraged to buy remnant stock shortly before the company announced plans to close all 127 Cineworld and Picturehouse outlets until further notice.
The announcement, which affects more than 5,000 workers in the UK, has left staff in limbo, with the government unlikely to subsidise their wages through the new job support scheme.
