Chester Zoo has announced that it will shut today, Saturday, December 7, over concerns about safety due to Storm Darragh. As high winds and heavy rain continue to batter the region, the Cheshire attraction has said it has taken the decision to close its doors.
A statement released on their social media has apologised to visitors and said they will be in touch with ticket-holders about their upcoming visit. This includes both daytime admissions and Lanterns & Light in the evening. "If you have tickets to visit the zoo during the day on Saturday or Lanterns & Light in the evening, please check your emails for a message from us - it contains everything you need to know. "We really do apologise for the disruption to your plans - but ensuring the safety of our visitors, staff, and animals is our absolute priority.
Our dedicated animal care teams will, of course, continue to keep a close eye on all the animals during these challenging weather conditions. "We're optimistic that the zoo and Lanterns & Light will also be open as normal on Sunday 8 December.
