The pop star appeared on the genealogy show back in 2016, hoping to find out more about her father’s side of the family. Her father, Brian Tweedy, had traced his ancestors back to a family of mariners called the Laings and Cheryl went to the Discovery Museum in Newcastle to find out more.The popstar met with Carolyn Ball, who ran the archives and revealed that she had found a mariners’ ticket belonging to John Wood Laing, Cheryl’s great-great-great-great-grandfather.The ticket included details about John Wood like his name, place of birth (North Shields), date of birth (1926) and appearance: 5’6’’, brown hair, fair complexion and a cut on his forehead.Ms Ball said: “This is what allowed him to go on board ship and be able to actually sail.
