Australian parenting page Mum Central explained that the corks work a a natural repellant and stops fruit flies landing in your food.Fruit flies are attracted to sugar and moisture which is why they aim for fruits, alcohol bottles, juice and sinks.But, the cork helps to absorb the moisture and the bugs don’t like the smell.
