Fruit flies.The pesky little bugs hover around our kitchens, sinks, bins and fruit bowls when it’s hot and they’re a nightmare to get rid of.Especially as they sometimes hitch a ride into our homes on our supermarket fruit.But, it turns out there’s an easy hack using a few wine corks which can stop fruit flies from hanging around your fruit bowl. Australian parenting page Mum Central explained that the corks work a a natural repellant and stops fruit flies landing in your food.Fruit flies are attracted to sugar and moisture which is why they aim for fruits, alcohol bottles, juice and sinks.But, the cork helps to absorb the moisture and the bugs don’t like the smell.
