Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s eviction from Frogmore Cottage will be “just the start” of King Charles’ plans to modernise the monarchy, sources have said.

The King is said to be carrying out a shake-up of The Firm that will see more royals funding and fending for themselves. Earlier this month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed they had been “requested to vacate” Frogmore Cottage - the UK home they were gifted by the late Queen following their marriage in 2018.

The couple was said to be "stunned" by the move and the King reportedly started the eviction process on 11 January, the day after Harry's explosive memoir Spare was published.

However, the couple’s loss of the cottage is said to be just the “tip of the iceberg”. According to The Evening Standard, Charles is keen to cut the number of royals with a dependence on the Crown, especially if they do not carry out duties.
