Celtic request Rangers rescheduling as SPFL 'owe it to supporters' to move winter break in face of crowd restrictions

Celtic have officially asked the SPFL to move the winter break forward in light of new restrictions on crowds. The Scottish Government announced on Tuesday that only 500 people will be allowed to attend matches for a three week period beginning on December 26.

That would include Celtic vs Rangers on January 2, as well as the Edinburgh, Dundee and Ayrshire derbies also scheduled for that Sunday.

The Premiership is scheduled to take a break from January 3 to 21 and it was immediately suggested that could be moved to avoid games being played in an essentially closed door environment.
