Celtic copycat for Kyogo demanded as Japan icon stunned by Australia benching

Legendary Keisuke Honda has urged Japan to copy Celtic in how they play frontman Kyogo – as the striker was left out for a massive clash against Australia.

The Hoops forward is in red hot form and marked his return to domestic action last weekend with the opening goal against Aberdeen in a 2-1 win after being injured during the previous international break.

He limped off against China in September having started the World Cup 2022 qualifier but was benched to face Parkhead team-mate Tom Rogic and the Socceroos.

Free-kick whizz Honda, formerly of AC Milan and CSKA Moscow, is one of the country's biggest exports and with 98 international caps remains a Samurai Blue icon.
