Busy town centre street cordoned off as man arrested after attack

A man was arrested after an attack on a busy town centre street in Oldham. The incident unfolded on Yorkshire Street, close to a number of shops and a pub, yesterday afternoon (July 15).

Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to 'reports of an assault'. One man was injured in the incident. His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing, a spokesperson for the force said in an update today. He remains in police custody for questioning by officers. Yorkshire Street was cordoned off after the attack yesterday, with a cordon in place outside the Old Bank pub.

The road was taped off from Waterloo Street to Horsedge Street. Forensic officers in white suits were spotted combing the area within the cordon for evidence.
