Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.
In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Bruno Fernandes has lifted the standards at Manchester United - and that was apparent even after his goal against Leeds United at the weekend.
Fernandes fired in a well-placed strike as the Red Devils stormed into a 3-0 lead against their rivals at Old Trafford. But, as team-mates congratulated him, he had just one thing on his mind.
Fernandes instantly pointed to Daniel James and tried to talk to him as he was mobbed by team-mates. And he got away from the celebrations to seek out James and give him some tactical advice before action resumed.
Behind the scenes footage shared by Manchester United on their YouTube channel showed Fernandes gesture to the Welsh winger and give him some advice.
