Brendan Rodgers has lifted the lid on attempts by former club Chelsea to sign Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian playmaker linked up with Rodgers at Liverpool from 2013-15 after he was signed by the manager from Inter Milan.
Liverpool were able to snap up Coutinho for the relatively modest fee of £8.5million, and Rodgers jumped at the chance, having been made aware of the player's talents during his time as a youth coach at Chelsea.
