Shots were fired on a major north Manchester road just moments after a two-car smash. The 'reckless' incident, in which nobody was injured, broke out on Cheetham Hill Road, north of the city centre, on Monday evening (April 11).

Police scrambled to the scene, shortly before 11.25pm, following reports that two vehicles had been involved in crash before a firearm was then discharged.

Following the incident, which is believed to be isolated, a Section 60 stop and search order was been put in place until tomorrow (Wednesday).

A Section 60 order can be implemented in areas where either serious violence has occurred or police believe serious violence is about to occur and gives officers the power to stop and search anyone in a designated location, looking for offensive weapons or bladed articles.
